Job Description

 Sales Associate (L1)
As an L1 Sales Associate, you build and manage your own pipeline, run discovery calls and product demos, and close low‑to‑mid‑ticket deals in a six-day week, high‑velocity Indian start‑up. Autonomy rises, targets get real, and you start paying it forward by guiding the newest hires.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the entire sales funnel
    • Maintain a healthy pipeline worth at least three times your monthly target, mixing ~60 % outbound and 40 % inbound opportunities.
  • Run consultative discovery and demos
    • Surface pain points, quantify impact, tailor 20‑minute walk‑throughs, and secure either a verbal “yes” or a crisp next step.
  • Hit quota and forecast accurately
    • Consistently reach 90 %+ of monthly revenue targets and keep weekly forecasts within ±10 % so leadership can plan with confidence.
  • Keep the CRM immaculate
    • Log every touch‑point, stage deals correctly, set follow‑ups, and make sure no lead sits idle for more than 72 hours.
  • Close the feedback loop with marketing & product
    • Share win/loss insights, objection patterns, and competitor intel at the Friday growth sync, and co‑lead at least one experiment every quarter.
  • Mentor the trainee pod
    • Shadow two Sales Trainees each week, give actionable feedback, and update talk tracks or email templates so the whole squad levels up.

KPI Framework

  1. Monthly Quota Attainment
    • Success: ≥ 90 % for three of four months; stretch goal is 100 %+ with incentives.
    • Interview signals: Cites specific percentages, explains how they recovered when behind target.
  2. Demo‑to‑Close Conversion Rate
    • Success: At least 25 % of demos convert to closed‑won.

  4. Forecast Accuracy
    • Success: Weekly forecast variance stays within ±10 %.
    • Interview signals: Describes MEDDIC/BANT scoring or colour‑coding deals to keep numbers honest.
  5. Sales‑Cycle Efficiency
    • Success: Median cycle ≤ 21 days for SMB and ≤ 35 days for mid‑market, with 85 % of deals moving through stages on SLA.
    • Interview signals: Talks about pre‑empting legal/finance bottlenecks and aligning stakeholders early.
  6. Process & CRM Hygiene
    • Success: 100 % mandatory fields completed, < 2 % data errors, and zero stale tasks older than 72 hours.
    • Interview signals: Affinity for dashboards, spreadsheet rigour, or past CRM clean‑ups.
  7. Peer Mentorship Impact
    • Success: Two trainees cite you as a top helper in quarterly pulse surveys, and their call scores rise by ≥ 0.3.
    • Interview signals: Mentions running “power‑hour” role‑plays or creating cheat sheets.
  8. Customer & Market Insight Contribution
    • Success: At least one actionable insight is adopted company‑wide each quarter.
