Job Description

American Express Off-campus Drive 2026. The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency, and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24×7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.

Software Engineer I develops and maintains software applications, writes clean and efficient code, completes code reviews with guidance and automated testing to ensure high-quality deliverables, debugs software components, and supports and monitors software across various environments.

• Develop, enhance, and maintain software applications to support business and customer needs.
• Write clean, efficient, scalable, and well-documented code that adheres to established engineering standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and automated testing activities, incorporating feedback and guidance from peers and technical leaders to improve code quality.
• Design, build, and maintain responsive web applications using modern technologies and sound software engineering principles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in software components by identifying defects, analyzing root causes, and implementing appropriate fixes.
• Support, monitor, and maintain applications across development, testing, integration, and production environments to ensure reliability and performance.
• Collaborate effectively with product, business, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with organizational goals and customer requirements.
• Develop a strong understanding of system integrations, dependencies, and platform interactions within supported business domains.
• Manage priorities and deliverables effectively, demonstrating the ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
• Leverage AI-powered tools and technologies in day-to-day development activities to improve productivity, code quality, problem-solving, and overall engineering efficiency.
• Continuously learn and apply new technologies, tools, and best practices to support professional growth and team success.

Qualifications:

• American Express Off-campus Drive 2026. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
• Foundational understanding of the tools, processes, and methodologies used throughout the software development lifecycle, including planning, analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
