Sony Research India (SRI) internships aim to offer students industry exposure and production-level project experience. The primary responsibility in this role will be to contribute positively to the growth and development of innovative technologies at SRI.
During the internship, you will work closely with software engineers and other team members on various development and optimization tasks across the stack — from backend APIs to frontend user interfaces. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with deployment, cloud services, and containerization. In addition, you will be expected to actively participate in daily development activities, such as coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and ensuring robust and efficient application performance. For this internship program, we are seeking a talented and motivated candidate who can join us as soon as possible for a duration of at least 6 months. It is essential to have strong coding skill in Python and JavaScript. Additionally, candidate should have experience in modern web frameworks and libraries such as Django, FastAPI, React, or similar technologies, along with a basic understanding of databases and common AWS services.

Duration of the paid internship:
- The paid internship will be for 6 months starting the first week of 2025.
- The working hours are from 9:00 to 18:00 (Monday to Friday) full-time.
Essential Education:
- Candidates pursuing or having completed a BSc/BTech level degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Data Science, Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Applications, or a closely related technical discipline will be considered for the internship program.
Must Have Skills:
- Prior experience with building and deploying full-stack web applications, covering both frontend (React.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and backend (Python frameworks such as Django/Flask/FastAPI).
- Understanding of RESTful API design, database integration (SQL/NoSQL), and best practices for scalable web services. Familiarity with modern frontend development workflows, including component-based architecture, state management, and responsive UI/UX design.
- Knowledge of containerisation and cloud services, with hands-on exposure to Docker and basic deployment workflows on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including version control (Git), debugging, testing, and code optimization for performance and reliability.
Good to have Skills:
- Demonstrated experience through open-source contributions, personal projects, or internships. Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks/libraries (e.g., Next.js, Redux) and backend architectures (e.g., microservices).
- Exposure to cloud-native services (AWS), including serverless functions, storage, and monitoring tools.
